Lyrics

“Boats in the Fog”

Verse 1

I was walking by the Baltic, where the shoreline disappears,
With the fog against my collar and the weight of all those years.
Christmas lights were blinking somewhere far behind the dunes,
But I’ve never felt much comfort in those carols or their tunes.

I’m no preacher, I’m no cynic, just a wanderer at best,
Not an atheist exactly, just unsure like all the rest.
Still I’ve always loved the stories, all the rituals and songs,
How the world keeps celebrating even when it all feels wrong.

Pre‑Chorus

And the wind cut through the silence like a memory half‑awake,
While the sea kept rolling softly like it knew each past mistake.

Chorus

Oh, the boats in the fog with their lanterns burning bright,
Drifting slow through the grey, turning darkness into light.
And the harbour starts to shimmer as they’re sailing through the night—
Oh, the boats in the fog, how they guide me back to life.

Verse 2

Then I saw the harbour glowing, little sparks along the pier,
Sailboats dressed in colours like they’d waited for the year.
And I thought about Hanukkah, all the candles in a row,
How a single flame keeps shining when the nights are deep with snow.

Maybe hope is just a glimmer that refuses to let go,
Maybe love is just a compass when the tide begins to flow.
And I stood there in the quiet, feeling something start to rise—
Not belief in any doctrine, just a warmth I recognised.

Pre‑Chorus

And the waves kept gently lifting all the shadows from my chest,
As the lights came closer, closer, like a promise manifest.

Chorus

Oh, the boats in the fog with their lanterns burning bright,
Drifting slow through the grey, turning darkness into light.
And the harbour starts to shimmer as they’re sailing through the night—
Oh, the boats in the fog, how they guide me back to life.

Bridge

Maybe faith is just a moment,
Maybe peace is just a spark,
But I felt it on that shoreline
Where the sea dissolves the dark.
And the world felt wide and gentle,
And the cold began to fade—
As the boats kept moving forward
Through the path their lanterns made.

Final Chorus

Oh, the boats in the fog with their lanterns burning bright,
Drifting slow through the grey, turning darkness into light.
And the harbour keeps on glowing as they vanish from my sight—
Oh, the boats in the fog…
They remind me love survives.
